Help us cherish our past and embrace our future during these uncertain times

Hello FAFC members and friends,

I pray you are all doing well and apologize it has taken me until now to reach out to our greater FAFC community.  There is much to reconfigure with life, school and work since the COVID-19 pandemic touched our lives.  Our officers and board initially took action a few weeks ago when closures started to roll out, contacting our hosts and venues for upcoming children's dance troupe performances and Easter celebration.  Understandably, all performances have been cancelled, even our May 5th performance at the Lan Su Chinese Garden.  We also concluded, as schools closed and events around the city were cancelled, we should cancel our Easter celebration for the safety of our cherished senior members, many of them founders of the club.  It would have been our 42nd Easter gathering!  That is something to be proud of and gives me hope that our club is resilient and will have many more Easters to share together.

In the meanwhile, I invite you to "join" my family in creating your own FAFC Easter celebration at home.  At the request of my daughter Elena, we will be enjoying a feast of Filipino food and doing our own egg hunt.  If you have the time, send us a picture of your family enjoying Easter and we will put together a photo montage of our collective experiences.

Now, something to embrace in the future...we have begun our initial meetings about our next debutante cotillion, planned for 2022.  I am especially pleased to announce that my friend and fellow 1986 debutante, Maple Chiong Class, will be our chairperson coordinating our efforts to create another unforgettable event. Please join me in welcoming and thanking Maple for taking on this role.  It will be a night to remember and a milestone 10th cotillion for our club!

Please take good care,
Cecilia (Cecile) Saqueton Muraki
